In order to land your dream job, or internship, you have to go through the interview process. These interviews can be intimidating. It is hard to come across as your best self when you can hardly remember to breathe! In light of the D.C. internship interviews we will have happening in our office this month, we are giving you some guidelines on how to put your best foot forward during your time with your future employer.

Huffington Post put out a great article entitled, “Make Your Mark: 10 Ways to Stand Out in an Interview,” by Natalie Roytman. We’re going to share the 10 tips she gave, but to read more about each one, click here for the whole article.

1) Prepare Your Key Points
2) Relax and Be Personable
3) Talk About Your Experience
4) Don't Be Afraid to Talk About Your Interests
5) Dress Appropriately
6) Be Confident
7) Have an Updated Resume
8) Ask Questions
9) Talk About Your Goals
10) Mention Your Strengths and Weaknesses

These are the type of things that you make you look your best. Every employer is different, but these are some fairly general pointers that apply in any situation. We’d encourage you to read the rest of Roytman’s article here.

But if you don’t remember anything else, remember this: Be on time, dress professionally and be confident. If you can implement these steps, you’re going to nail it!
